LIBRARY AIDE and ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT- Job Description

Required Qualifications

  1. College degree preferred. A degree in Business Administration and/or Library Science a plus.
  2. Prior work in school/public library or administrative office preferred.
  3. Able to learn accounting procedures.
  4. Able to interact as a team member with strong customer service skills.
  5. Computer skills required with Microsoft word, Excel, and the Internet.

 

Responsibilities

    1. Assists Library Director with correspondence, filing, and reports.
    2. Assists with Quickbooks, bill paying, and accounting.
    3. Support procedures at the  circulation desk with Millennium catalog, paging lists, and reference questions.
    4. Assists with library newsletter, and library website.
    5. Catalogs and processes new materials.
    6. Shelves books and other materials. Able to bend, stretch and  lift 10 pounds.
    7. Reviews materials on shelves; identifies areas that are out of order; produces library reports.
    8. Searches shelves for requested items; helps with inventory/shelf reading.
    9. Other duties as assigned.

 

Reporting Functions

Reports to Director or Youth Services Librarian

Work Week

This is 30 hour position.  Includes weekday,  Saturday
 and evening hours.
